Support 1 Million Cups Jeff City
This free, national program founded by the Kauffman Foundation recognized Jeff City as a host city in October of 2017. Meeting weekly, this group of entrepreneurs has been fostering education, connection, and engagement. If you believe that entrepreneurship has positive affects on the city’s economic development and would like to promote and support that, 1 Million Cups is a great place to do so. The United Way of Central Missouri supports 28 agencies in seven different counties. Dreams to Reality was established in 2000 by local women in an effort to help disadvantaged women receive appropriate interview and career attire. Items are donated by the community to meet the needs of their clients and the Boutique offers for sale to the general public a wide variety of quality made selections including dresses, jackets, pants, tops, purses belts, scarves, jewelry and formal wear. Volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club
The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens”. The Jefferson City location has a membership of close to 700 boys and girls. It is open weekdays during the school year from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dinner is provided to Club members M-F. During the summer months, the Club is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information on volunteering, email kcrow@bgcjc.com.
