Gratitude Lists

Hello, hello family and friends! Today, Sarah and I (Missy) are going to get a little personal on the blog. We’ll be sharing our Gratitude Lists including five things we’re thankful for this season and we’d love to hear yours in the comments. Take it away Sarah!

SARAH: I have to say that I am all about having an attitude of gratitude. Every book I have ever read about becoming a better person has said that being grateful is a must and I truly believe this. It’s also one of those things I try to instill in my kids because it is so easy to forget how lucky and blessed we all are. No matter what happens or how bad your day goes, anyone can find one thing to be thankful for.

My family and I try to express our gratitude on a daily basis (check out last Friday’s below) by writing it down on a white board on the fridge. Some days our grateful are meaningful and sweet and other days they are silly. They can come from something that has recently happened to us, like having a great birthday, or they can be something that just randomly pops into one of my boy’s heads. Slime is a perfect example of this. 😉

On this day, in this moment, here are the five things I am most thankful for…

Friends & Family

Yep, I gotta start with the one!

I know it’s cliche, but I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to have such wonderful family and friends. I feel grateful for the huge support system I have in every area of my life. I always have someone to talk to, lean on, or get advice from and that’s amazing!

New Opportunities

This year has been such a great adventure! Everyday I find myself learning something new, trying something new, or meeting someone new. It is so exciting and I can’t wait for what is yet to come.

Community

More than ever, I realize how great our community is. There is always something to do and places to go. And most of all, there is always someone willing to lend a helping hand. I sometimes take for granted that not every community has that.

My New Favorite Word…HYGGE

Missy introduced me to this word, and at first, I didn’t pay attention because I honestly had no clue what it meant. One day, I looked up the definition and I was hooked! I am obsessed with this word and its meaning. It is now something that I am trying to incorporate into my life daily. In fact, I customized my 2019 planner to have it on the front cover as a constant reminder.

MISSY: I couldn’t agree more with Sarah on being grateful to become a better person. I don’t write mine down daily, but every time I’m feeling low or “dumpy” as I like to call it, writing a Gratitude List is one of best forms of self therapy I’ve found that works for me. It’s so simple and it puts everything in perspective. I highly suggest it the next time you’re feeling dumpy.

You might not know this, but I journal. Like a real paper and pen journal. I fill them with updates on life, Instax photos, washi tape, and Gratitude Lists. It’s actually really fun to go back and read them. These lists take me back to exactly where I was at that chapter in my life.

Here are mine from this Tuesday, November 20, 2018:

Low Cost of Living
Being just back from Iceland (I got married there!), arguably the most expensive countries in the world right now, my $2 cup of coffee is pretty comforting. I take it for granted how good we have it here, but this last trip was a bold reminder.

Our Home
Celebrating four years in this ranch-style home, I feel like we’ve finally got it to where we want. While homeowner work is never done, I LOVE our house and especially who I share it with…

My boys - Joe and Preston
My husband (surprisingly already comfortable calling him this) and my best. dog. ever.

Family and Work Family (Clients & Sarah)
Love them both! Both make dreams come true and allow all of this to be possible!

You! Yes, you this person reading this blog.
Not trying to be cheezy, but honestly, if you weren’t here checking in from week to week (maybe you’ve skipped some, but then you get caught up) this wouldn’t continue to exist. We want you to know that your visit to our site and your subscription to our email list actually matters. When we go to ask for sponsors, they want to know how much attention this blog gets and we show them those numbers. Making money from this blog is not our number one goal, but we need it to make sense of our time and to order MO Swag inventory. We love the opportunity this blog gives us to meet new people work with others and share with visitors and residents. And frankly, if you weren’t here, what would be the point? So thank you!

Lastly, I’d like to leave you with one of my favorite songs about counting your blessings and how quickly life can change.

We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and feel free to share what you’re thankful for this season with us in the comments!
