Here is your quarterly addition of Why It’s A Great Time To Live In Jefferson City! This quarter Ann Bax, from the United Way, chimes in on what she is loving right now.
The Jefferson City Cultural Arts Commission is one of those hidden gems within our community. They do so much to promote and fund the arts in Jefferson City and take little credit for their amazing actions. Get to know a little about their mission and the people behind the scenes making things happen.
HALO is a long-term home for homeless teenage girls in and around our community from the ages of 16-21 years old. These teens do not have a stable, safe place to call home. They move from house to house, couch to couch, night after night until finally, they are no longer welcome at any of these homes. They sleep in shelters, tents, and cars. Some of these girls are pregnant, some are not, some are already mothers with young children, but all of them come to us needing a safe place to live, and lots of love and support. HALO believes every child should have a home.
My name is Brett Welschmeyer, an IT Manager and entrepreneur living in Jefferson City for most of my life. Jefferson City has a community of people that have many ideas and interest, and many of them don't even know what talents or skills they have. Not by choice, but lack of hands-on learning or places to really dig in and experiment and have some fun creating unique inventions. This is the main reason why I started to lay the foundations for Mid Mo Maker Labs.
